Are you looking for a “must see” in London? Then don’t miss the Changing the Guard at Buckingham Palace. This process of Changing the Guard involves a new guard exchanging duty with the old guard.

No trip to London is complete without watching the Changing of the Guard at Buckingham Palace. This traditional handover is accompanied by the Guard's Band and is truly a spectacle to behold. Arrive early for the best spots, as this is one of the most crowded areas of London, especially when the Changing of the Guard is taking place.

The Changing the Guard ceremony at Buckingham Palace can be seen every day at 11:00 am, except on Sundays. The tradition dates back to 1660, when troops first began guarding the royal family. They didn't begin guarding Buckingham Palace until 1837 when Queen Victoria made it her permanent home. The guards uniforms are a distinguishing feature of London, and their likenesses are seen on souvenirs and merchandise across the city. They are normally seen wearing red tunics with black bearskin hats, the fabric changing slightly according to the season.

Although the Changing of the Guard is more or less just a change in the day's shift, the ceremony is still a favorite of London's crowds and a must-see for any visitor.
